New Daywear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Moisturisers From Estée Lauder

In 1997, Estée Lauder was the only cosmetics brand to collaborate with leading French scientists in a groundbreaking SU.VI.MAX study. As a result, Estée Lauder was the first cosmetics company to prove that topical application of anti-oxidants and vitamins provided significant skin-protective benefits establishing Estée Lauder’s role as the cosmetic leader in the science of anti-oxidant skincare.

Today, Estée Lauder remains the skincare leader in anti-oxidant protection, once again breaking scientific boundaries with NEW DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Moisturisers SPF 15, the brand’s most effective anti-oxidant and broad-spectrum sunscreen protection ever to help prevent and diminish the appearance of the first signs of aging.

With continued daily use, it helps visibly diminish the appearance of fine, dry lines and dullness so skin looks smoother and more radiant.

Marchesa Fall 2011

Inspired by the decaying opulence of Great Expectations, the Marchesa Fall 2011 collection is simply stunning. In an ode to the Victorian Era, the collection features slightly ripped tulle and Marchesa's signature dramatic volume. A strong lace motif was also showcased, but rather than using actual lace, the designers instead opted for exquisite embroidery and delicate beading…

Ruben Perlotti 2012

We are very excited about the 2012 bridal and evening collection by Ruben Perlotti, to be launched at Bridal Fashion Week, Auckland in April 2011. Below is a press release that we received this morning about the stunning new designs…

The elegant woman, sensual and a bit proud, has been the inspiration for new RUBEN PERLOTTI bridal and evening 2012 collection.

The magnificent gold and ivory chryselephantine goddess statues that decorated the wealthiest homes and temples in Greece circa 1600 BC were the original cult objects of the ancient world.

The priestesses and deities these statues depicted had something to tell their mortal followers about the unique power created by the proper balance of sensuality and restraint.

In the 1890s, the chryselephantine statue reappeared again and again in the Art Nouveau period’s paintings and sculptures. In the 1920s Art Deco period between the two world wars, modernist dancers Josephine Baker and Isadora Duncan shocked their audiences with extravagant sets, dances and poses that brought the chryselephantine goddess statue to life.

Says Ruben, “As much as I am inspired by the exoticism, charm and volatility of that golden age of ancient Greece, I am also possessed by this fusion of the modern and the ancient cultures, the oriental and the occidental worlds.

I see two forms of strong, sensual and proud images – and I think that is somewhat the women of today. In my mind, I can picture all these qualities intertwined. This collection’s use of materials, designs and metal encrustations reflect the magical expression of what is timeless about these goddesses – her elegance, sensuality, and not just a little bit of pride.”

VIVA Reveals Wedding Photo Secrets

Image: Viva Photography

Wedding photography is a vital part of your wedding planning process, and it's so important that you choose the right photographer to work with you and to capture your day in the way that you had envisaged. I recently received a press release that offers couples advice on how to ensure they get the best wedding photos. It includes comments from VIVA photography founder and Quadrouple Master photographer Vittorio Natoli…

Wedding photos allow couples and their families to revisit that special day and relive all of their precious moments each time they open their wedding album.  However, too often couples find themselves dissatisfied with wedding photos that don’t capture the essence of their day.

With this in mind, Viva Photography Founder and Quadrouple Master Photographer Vittorio Natoli is urging couples to understand what makes great wedding photos and ensure they choose the right photographer.

“The wedding photographer will be sharing one of the most memorable days of your life so make sure you have a connection with them and feel comfortable around them,” he said.

“A photographer who can relax you will help to create a more natural style and will help the individuality of your wedding come through.”

“I recommend that couples meet the photographer a week or two prior to the wedding date, to discuss and confirm all of their requirements. This ensures that your wedding day images do not look ‘generic' and 'styled'.”

In the planning stages, try to meet with more than one photographer and trust your instincts when making the choice between them.

Mr Natoli also recommended couples focus on ‘keeping it natural’ during their wedding photo session.

“A good photographer will know how to naturally pose you and understand how to use the best lighting positions. Most people think it’s necessary to smile and pose for the photographer, but forcing this will make your images look unnatural”.

“Also, you don’t need to force a smile for every single shot. Just try to relax and be natural; your real emotions will come through.”

“Brides with light make-up and a soft hairstyle always photograph beautifully. Try to avoid hairstyles, makeup or accessories which are not you, otherwise you could look back and find your photos have dated.”

Mr Natoli said couples should be mindful of avoiding clichés.

“Your wedding is not like anyone elses, so why should your photos be?”

“You don’t need to copy every shot that’s been taken at everyone else's weddings, to have a unique set of images that represent you.”

“With some thought and communication with your photographer, you can come up with really unique ideas for shots which represent you as you are and it’s these photos people really treasure.”

Tips for Achieving Perfect Wedding Photos:
  1. Meet with several photographers whose work you love. Choose the one who you feel most comfortable and relaxed around.
  2. Take advantage of your most flattering angles but avoid posing too much. The best wedding photos are natural ones.
  3. Don’t force a smile in every photo.
  4. Soft, classic looking hair and makeup will photograph best. Styles which are too ‘trendy’ may date.
  5. Try to avoid clichéd where possible, instead, speak with your photographer about unique photo ideas.

World Cancer Day 2011

Today is World Cancer Day and the UICC and its partner organisations will run campaigns all over the world to raise awareness for the disease that causes millions of deaths every year, many of which could have been prevented.

Cancer is a global burden that affects millions of families throughout the world. Sadly, the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that 84 million people will die of cancer between 2005 and 2015 without intervention. More than ever before there is a need for a concerted and co-ordinated fight against cancer, and World Cancer Day can play its part by providing an even bigger platform for informing the world about cancer.

The UICC has its hopes set high: 2011 promises to be an important year with the UN Summit on Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) taking place in September.

If you would like to support the efforts, you will find all the information you need on the UICC website.

Gifts Thing: Wedding Gifts that Give Back

Donating to Cancer Council NSW in lieu of wedding gifts is becoming an increasingly popular choice for the bride and groom that already have everything they need. In many ways more meaningful than receiving traditional wedding gifts, asking your guests to donate to Cancer Council NSW is a unique way of thanking your guests for celebrating your wedding and is the perfect finishing touch to your big day.

As well as asking for donations rather than gifts, there are other ways in which you can support Cancer Council NSW:
  • Purchase wedding favours for your big day
  • Make a donation in honour of a loved one or friend
  • Set up an online gift registry and give your guests the option of making a donation
Visit Cancer Council NSW to find out more.

Tony Ward…

I just love the Tony Ward gown that Annette Bening wore to the 2011 SAG Awards – she simply shone in the the stunning gold creation. The long evening gown, from the designer's Fall/Winter 2010-11 Couture collection, was embroidered with crystal stones and matte and shiny sequins and featured a high slit neckline that showed off the actor's toned shoulders.

About Tony Ward Couture
Tony Ward's haute couture collection was launched in 1995 in his home country of Lebanon. Ward is known for his painstaking workmanship that combines seductive, transparent fabrics with hand-sewn embroidery and jewel embellishments. Before the inception of his own line, Ward worked with renowned designers Claude Montana, for Lanvin; Gianfranco Ferré, for Dior; and Karl Lagerfield, for Chloé. After his tenure at The Maison Chloé, Ward returned to Lebanon to concentrate on the launch of his namesake line in his family's 40-year-old atelier. The collection is created for the sophisticated woman whose distinctive charm and timeless style mirror the exquisite detail of Ward's designs.
