Emma Hack's New Exhibition Wallpaper Mandala Opens at Obscura Gallery

'Emma is currently celebrating her 21st year of body art and is Australia’s pioneer in this inspiring and growing worldwide art form.'

Internationally recognised and award-winning Australian multi-media artist, Emma Hack, began exploring the notion of camouflage in 2005, drawing inspiration from famed model Verushka who in the 1960s and '70s painted herself into rustic walls and naturalistic settings.

When Emma discovered the iconic Florence Broadhurst range of wallpaper designs it provided the perfect inspiration. She was overwhelmed at the response from Signature Prints who gave blessing for her to not only use the designs but granted Emma access to the Florence Broadhurst archives. So began the Wallpaper collection of images that span from 2005 – 2008, and it was during this time that Emma began exhibiting her limited edition photographic images. Her first ever wallpaper camouflage took 19 hours straight to paint with more recent works taking anywhere from 7 – 15 hours, depending on the complexity of the design. It is an exhausting process for artist and subject alike; however the results are nothing short of spectacular.

Emma’s highly anticipated 2010 Wallpaper Mandala collection features 10 new images, expertly blending the female form into Broadhurst designs. This new collection is a further celebration of Emma’s skill and expertise, where she merges Broadhurst’s wallpaper designs together with her own gorgeous colour palettes.

Emma is currently working on a short documentary featuring the Broadhurst designs in her work as well as designing a limited edition art book.

Emma is also celebrating her 21st year of body art and is Australia’s pioneer in this inspiring and growing worldwide art form. She has worked with numerous Australian celebrities, including Kristy Hinze, Todd McKenney and Vanessa Amorossi. She also travels frequently overseas creating live installations for many launches and campaigns including Tiffany & Co in Dubai and Mont Blanc in Beijing.

Emma Hack’s Wallpaper Mandala collection will be launched at Obscura Gallery in Melbourne.

Guess Seductive: The New Fragrance for Women

In the most fashionable city in the world, New York, Coty Beauty has announced the launch of GUESS’s alluring new fragrance for women, GUESS Seductive. The sexy scent embodies the unique magnetism and playfully captivating style synonymous with the GUESS brand.

Infused with the precious essence of Florentine Orris, the new fragrance evokes the essence of the iconic fashion brand, channeling the edgy trendsetting designs that have set GUESS apart throughout its history. From the brand’s iconic denim to its inimitable black and white ads, GUESS’s singular style is translated into GUESS Seductive’s charismatic blend of enticing notes.

“GUESS is thrilled to be unveiling our newest scent, Seductive, in partnership with Coty,” says Paul Marciano, Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of GUESS?, Inc. “Coty is a leader in the beauty and fragrance industry and we feel confident and proud to have worked so closely with them on the launch of Seductive.”

Created by perfumer Veronique Nyberg, GUESS Seductive is a sparkling, floriental woody fragrance evokes coy femininity and intoxicating seduction. The scent teases the senses, captivates attention, and leaves a lingering sensation of addiction—a fatal floral attraction.

Bold top notes of zesty, dazzling Bergamot, vibrant Blackcurrant and crispy Pear evoke mouthwatering, mesmerizing desire. At the heart of the fragrance are feminine facets of Orange Flower, exotic touches of Jasmine and the noble allure of precious Florentine Orris, a legendary note harvested in Florence and used in perfumery for centuries to seduce the senses. At the base is a voluptuous trail of warm Vanilla
and spicy Olibanum, finished with an intensely distinguished, musky essence of Cashmere Wood.

Aussies Rush to Book Weddings on 10/10/10

For those who count their lucky stars and take dates and numbers seriously, choosing the date of a wedding is serious business. Fate, happiness and luck all depend on choosing the right day for the ceremony! For many 10/10/10 represents luck and good fortune and Australian Marriage Celebrants has seen a huge last minute rush of couples registering for this distinctive date.
“If intending to marry, a couple has to register their application a month and a day prior to the intended date,” explains Martin Moroney, spokesperson for Australian Marriage Celebrants, the largest and most respected association of marriage celebrants in Australia. “Celebrants within the association have acknowledged an overwhelming desire for weddings on 10/10/10 with some celebrants even committing to three weddings on this date and turning away others wishing to wed when the stars align!”

“I was booked for 10.10am on 10th October 2010 many months ago,” adds Elaine Searle, member of Australian Marriage Celebrants. “I have booked two more ceremonies during the day and could have booked, probably about six more, but three is my absolute limit!”

For the Chinese, the bride’s and groom’s birthdates and times are required for selecting the dates for a wedding to commence. Usually even-numbered months and dates are preferred and the date of 10/10/10 is considered to be one of the best days in the year to be married. According to the Chinese calendar, 10/10/10 represents an auspicious day for a wedding with some couples even consulting feng shui experts on the timing for events such as fetching the bride and entering the groom’s home.

With only two days left to register for the date 10/10/10, auspicious brides and grooms to-be all over Australia are scrambling to sign on the dotted line and seal their future’s happiness! If a month and a day is too quick for those looking for a lucky wedding date there’s always 11/11/11 - but Australian Marriage Celebrants are encouraging Aussies to get in early as ceremonies are already being booked for this date!
