Bridal Beauty - Make-up Tips & Tricks

Every bride wants to look her beautiful best on her big day, so I thought I would share with you tips and techniques from the experts at Model Co…

With wedding bells in the air, Model Co asked 3 top Australian Makeup Artists - Leaine Taylor, Budi Juspandi and Aimie Fiebig to share their tried and tested beauty tips on how to achieve that fresh, dewy, radiant look for the big day.
“In the lead up to the big day, apply LASH + BROW Growth Stimulator, $42 before bedtime for more luscious lashes & fuller brows in just 14 days.

Use FACE OFF Smoothing Facial Exfoliator, $34 twice a week to refine and brighten the skin, and for dry areas of the body, such as legs, elbows, etc, use EXFOLIATE Body Wipes, $26 daily - massage the coarse side in a circular motion to slough away dead skin cells and the softer side to buff and polish to perfection” Leaine Taylor
“Sexy, sun-kissed skin will beautifully set-off a white gown but don’t risk sun-exposure – perfect a faux glow by first prepping the skin with TAN PREP Body Polish, $26 which neutralizes the pH Levels in the skin ensuring an even coverage.

My favourite tanning product for brides is TAN Airbrush In A Can, $34 as it delivers a salon-professional result, but gives you complete control, and the blue/green base delivers a rich bronze glow rather than a nasty orange shade. Start to apply your tan 1 week before the big day, start light and layer until you’ve reached the desired hue. TAN REMOVER, $25 is your savior for any mishaps, and remember - practice makes perfect! Before the gown goes on, the finishing touch is SHIMMER Airbrush Illuminiser, $26 – the light-reflecting pigment highlights the décolletage, shoulders and back beautifully, and can also be used over makeup.” Leaine Taylor
“No need for Bridal Botox! I use ERASE THOSE FINE LINES™, $65 on all my brides - simply swipe the wand over trouble areas such as around the eye and the forehead for instantly tighter, smoother skin. For a long-lasting, flawless an glowing complexion start with FACE BASE Skin Primer, $34 (keeps makeup in place for up to 10 hours) then apply a sheer, water-based foundation such as FLUIDSPLASH 3 in 1 Foundation (about the size of a 20 cent coin if you’re using a brush), keep the coverage light and natural and build where necessary. Use the colour-matched concealer and eye base which is housed in the lid to disguise imperfections, neutralize the lid and keep the eye makeup in place. Use SKIN PERFECT Pore Minimiser, $32 to conceal any open pores and absorb excess oil. Finish with a dust of GLOW Summer Bronze, $58 - a sheer bronzing powder with golden shimmer fusion on your cheeks, forehead, nose, and if the gown is strapless - carefully dust over shoulders and décolletage.” Budi Juspandi
“Well-groomed brows are integral to any bridal beauty look as they frame the face – the EYEBROWS Designer Brow Kit, $48 contains all the shaping and grooming tools you need to colour, shape and define your eyebrows. Choose the shade closest to your hair colour, select desired shape from one of the 4 stencils, use one of the angled brushes to tame and extend the brows with the soft wax, and the other to fill in and define the brow with the matching pressed powder, pluck stray hairs and finish with BROW CONTROL Clear Gel, $24 to hold in place all day and night.” Budi Juspandi
“Eyes should look defined but natural - start by adding depth to the top lash line using a thin brush to apply high-pigment eye shadow in midnight blue such as COLOURBOX Eye Shadow, $28 in Tahiti (this shade is less harsh than black or brown for the daytime). Next apply a wash of eye shadow in a neutral champagne hue with a luster finish such as COLOURBOX Eye Shadow, $28 in Costa Rica to the entire lid and contour lightly along the crease with COLOURBOX Eye Shadow, $28 in St Tropez. Curl lashes from the root using Turbo LASHWAND Heated Eyelash Curler, $35 (this is also great to keep in the bride's beauty bag to refresh the lashes before the reception).

For long, full, defined lashes use FIBERLASH Brush On Lashes, $48 - like extensions but without the hassle! The tear-proof formula is perfect for brides! If you have sparse lashes, plump up the lash line using a few single false lashes such as LASH OUT Single Lashes + glue, $18.” Aimie Fiebig
“For a youthful, ‘blushing bride’ look use your fingertips to gently dab CHEEK + LIPS TINT in Rosy Red, $34 on the apples of the cheeks and up slightly towards the temples, don’t rub - the long-lasting formula is perfect for brides. Then using your fingertips, gently dab LUMINOSITY Shimmer Stick, $32 on the upper cheekbones to highlight and give a radiant ‘lit-from-within’ look.” Leaine Taylor
“Create the perfect base and let the true colour of the lipstick show using the LIP WAX PRIMER Ultimate Shaping Kit, $34 – use the nude coloured pencil to line then fill in using the soft wax. To set off a white gown go for a pink shade such as LIPSTICK Lip Light, $28 in Kitty – the handy inbuilt light and mirror means that the bride can stay looking picture-perfect all day and night. Finish with a slick of light-reflecting gloss such as LIPLIGHTS Ultra Shine Gloss, $35 in Pink Sea Shell. To make lips even poutier, delicately apply LUMINOSITY Shimmer Stick, $32 to the cupids bow.” Leiane Taylor
BLUSH BRUSH 05 , $48
SKINDRINK Airbrush Moisturiser, $32 – a quick drying, non-greasy moisturiser lightly scented with Pink Frangipani
LIQUID EYE BUDS, $14.50 – perfect for precision cleans-ups of fall-outs or mistakes
BEAUTY FIX Makeup Setting Spray, $34 – a bridal must-have, seals makeup in place for hours
